The Special Education Department at the Southwest Secondary Learning Center is dedicated to giving students with disabilities the tools they need to succeed through challenging and meaningful learning opportunities.

Guiding Principle

“Congress finds the following: Disability is a natural part of the human experience and in no way diminishes the right of individuals to participate in or contribute to society. Improving educational results for children with disabilities is an essential element of our national policy of ensuring equality of opportunity, full participation, independent living, and economic self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities.”

– Individuals with Disabilities Education Act

Our Commitment to Students with Disabilities

At SSLC, we provide a flexible hybrid learning environment that pairs self-guided learning with the critical disciplines of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). We offer flexible programs designed to equip our students with disabilities for successful transitions to careers or college.

Guided by individualized education plans (IEPs) and the expertise of our support lab, we have a resolute dedication to inclusion, personalized learning, and the success of our students with disabilities. We help them embark on a journey of discovery, self-advocacy, and preparation for a future filled with possibilities.

Our self-guided curriculum is academically rigorous and primarily taught virtually with classroom support from our teachers and educational assistants. We encourage you to explore what our school has to offer when deciding whether we’re the best fit for your child’s unique needs. If you have questions about our programs or would like to schedule a tour of our facilities, contact us at 505-296-7677 or view our application process.
